West End doesn't end here ...

BBC news says overall attendances rose from 2003 but was close to the attendance record of over 12m in 2002. The majority of these were for musicals, with over 7m attendances while about 3m people attended a play. The "other entertainment" are opera, dance, one-man shows, revues and stand-up comedy.

Now, why is this? People with more pocket money, one-off success of a single performance or a play, the limelight of few Hollywood A-list starts? Don't know. Young Vick started out with (under Kevin) one of the middle age crisis piece, a little bit "old news" these days, middle age crisis. What about centre age crisis?

I saw only one piece last yeat, a fringe show in Highbury Place, New York stories of under dogs with somewhat post 9/11 theme. It was a good one. A good mix of sarcasm and warm characters, and funny lines in between. A cheap production but a very good night out. We should do more of it, go see the fringe, shouldn't we.
