Too many books?

Quite a few seem to be having a go at writing a book - over 1m titles a year are published around the world according to the appropriately named book So Many Books by Mexican Gabriel Zaid... though his conclusion is optimistic. Progress has meant diversity and that is probably a strength for the book trade. Or are fresh talent and imagination needed to keep it alive ... see this article
