Useless

Stephen King, not so popular among the academics and nobel-writers is interviewed in The Telegraph, possible because "horror" genres are doing very well today. He says about not being taken as a serious writer, "My family has been eating. My house is paid for. And, in the end, after you're gone, the work finds its own level." In other words, who cares.
But Paul Auster has said what needs to be said about art in The Observer, that is art is useless. We knew that didn't we. But useless is a good thing, that we knew as well. So what the gentlemen above are talking about is useless.
