Another award

Apart from being not so unpopular TV, award ceremonies sell papers and can compensate for other awards that have been eaten by politics, and they are even fun. A good amount of exscuses are needed to to have one. Harold Pinter was honoured at the Evening Standard Theatre Awards few days ago. Along with actress Judi Dench and the South Bank institution were each given Special Awards, honouring their contributions to the cultural life in this country and marking the Standard awards' own half-century. Alan Bennett won Best Play with This History Boys and The Charles Wintour Bursary for New Playwriting. Something happening in playwriting here.
